About Javier Noguera
I am Javier Noguera, Dr. Agronomist Specialist in plant breeding.
I studied agricultural technical engineer and later agricultural engineer. When I was close to finishing my studies, they offered me to join a research group at the University of Almería to do my doctoral thesis on molecular genetics issues related to melon, in addition to teaching as a professor of technical engineering agricultural and agronomist engineer careers.
Later I left the DNA molecules in the laboratory and started working as a plant breeder. For 10 years I was working as a breeder in melon and watermelon species for the Rijk Zwaan Ibérica seed company.
For various reasons, at one point I decided to change company and species and since then I have been working as a pepper breeder at the HM.Clause Ibérica seed company.

About Breeding Topics
Throughout my professional career as a breeder I have been reading scientific publications, news, information from various sources on plant genetic improvement, molecular genetics, agriculture, etc …, all of it information in some cases more interesting than in others. But in most cases, once the information was read, I forgot about the documentation without giving it more importance.
The idea with this blog is that it serve as a warehouse or storage room for all those references, order them in some way, make a comment on aspects that have interested me in order to be able to return to that documentation if I need it and at the same time, that it is also accessible to all those who may be interested in these topics.
As I have commented in my career as a breeder, I have worked to date in melon, watermelon and pepper improvement programs (you never know if the future holds other crops), so most of the information I have accessed has been related to these species, although in general I have been interested in everything related to plant genetic improvement, mainly horticultural species that are the crops of greatest agricultural interest in the area of Almeria where I work.
Topics related to breeding strategies, types of populations, trial design, statistics and other aspects that are generally more developed in extensive crop breedings programmes will also be reflected in some of the posts, as well as issues related to molecular genetics and new technologies that are expected to have a future impact in the field of genetic improvement.
In principle, the people most interested in this blog will be breeders working in different horticultural species, but that does not mean that crop technicians, advisers, students, trainers, farmers or other professionals can find information that may be useful or complementary to their activity.
Well, to finish, I hope that the information that you can find in this blog will be of interest to you and at the same time I hope I have enough perseverance to upload new posts from time to time on topics that I find interesting, and that this blog do not remain as an abandoned blog of the many that can be found on the internet.
